I received a PhD. from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2006. My dissertation was Personal Futures: Foresight and Futures Studies for Individuals.

I enrolled at LMU in 2000, attended and completed their Post Graduate Course in Research Management (PGCRM), which was required of PhD. students at that time. As a part-time "Distant" student, I conducted my research from my home in Texas. I had Internet access to the LMU Library and to all their electronic databases. I communicated with my supervisors by email, occasional phone calls and later by Skype.I was fortunate to have excellent and active supervision.

For me, this was a wonderful experience. I would encourage anyone who is considering a distant PhD. to start as soon as possible.
