Hi

I finally got here..

More info on the DBA.. you can certainly make his a futures doctorate..but it will be much more work oriented and value adding. You use the workplace as the context for learning...and build up the thesis as you go. It would probably require a few more visits to the UK but if economic, we can do it in the US. If you want ot consider this option, let me know. The programme is approved and I can send you application forms. The prices is still being negotiated but I will know soon.

Hi Jeff,

This sounds fantastic! Let me know next steps. I was waiting to reply until you posted price info, perhaps you have that now?

Happy 2008,

John

We are close to opening applications. The DBA will cover three years of work, built up through the completion of pieces of work..but always around your area of interest. The cost is estimated at between £5000 to £6000. It will be led by Prof Jim Stewart, Prof Paul Iles and myself. If you want more information and application forms, send an e-mail to me at j.gold@leedsmet.ac.uk

Hi Jeff,
This is fantastic news! Once the DBA is open, will FS students still also be able to take the Strategy and Business Analytics PhD that Pero and Verne did, or will this DBA replace the other? Would be nice if there were two distance options, one more theory based and one more practice based.

Also, is there any way that we might get something about a Futures Studies / Strategic Foresight track for either or both of these programs listed on some corner of the Leeds Met website? Just one page that formally lists the PhD work in this area that has already been done (Pero, Verne, etc.) the kinds of things the students can do in FS, as well as any FS-related interests of you, Dr. Stewart, and Dr. Illes, and any adjunct faculty, would be a key way for us to promote this program to all the groups listed at the bottom of the wiki homepage (WFS, STFN, GFN, APF, WFSF, etc.). I believe the work of setting up the page would be worth it to Leeds Met going forward, and would love to help with that however I could.
